Tomiko likes London. There are
many places to go and a lot of things to do, but it is not easy to live in a
big city far from home. Tomiko never tells her parents, but sometimes she feels
afraid at night.
Tomiko has three locks on her
apartment door and she owns a big dog. The dog’s name is King. He’s a good
friend and he protects Tomiko. He also protects Tomiko’s apartment when she is
at work. King is very friendly but he barks at people he doesn’t know. Most
people are afraid of King when they hear or see him.
Tomiko doesn’t have
many friends in London, but she has a boyfriend named Ted. He works in the same
company and he is also an accountant. He likes her a lot, but there’s one
problem. He’s afraid of dogs. Last night, he came to visit Tomiko. She said to
him, “Don’t be afraid of King. He
won’t bite” But Ted doesn’t trust King. He is very big and barks too much.
Ted's afraid that King may bite him someday.
